Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your private tour guide and transferred to your hotel for relaxation and an orientation briefing. Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy a leisurely tour of the Entebbe Botanical Gardens or a sunset cruise on Lake Victoria.

Day 2: Fly to Kasese – Transfer to Rwenzori Base
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic domestic flight to Kasese, offering aerial views of the lush Ugandan countryside and the snowcapped Rwenzori peaks. Upon landing, you’ll be transferred to the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains for a luxurious overnight stay before your trek begins. Spend the afternoon relaxing, acclimatizing, and enjoying optional village walks or cultural interactions with local Bakonzo communities.

Day 3: Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut (2,652m)
The trekking adventure begins with a briefing from experienced Rwenzori Mountaineering Services (RMS) guides and porters. The hike starts from Nyakalengija and meanders through dense montane forests rich in birdlife and primates. After about 5–6 hours of trekking, you arrive at Nyabitaba Hut, nestled in the misty forest.
Overnight Stay at Nyabitaba Hut – Though rustic, this hut is the best available at this stage of the mountain. Your luxury experience continues with private porters, chef-prepared meals, and high-quality camping gear provided.
Day 4: Nyabitaba to John Matte Hut (3,505m)
Today’s trek involves descending to the Bujuku River before ascending through the bamboo zone and the giant heather zone. The scenery becomes increasingly dramatic as you enter the Afro-alpine ecosystem. The 7–8 hour hike concludes at John Matte Hut, close to the edge of the alpine zone.

Day 5: John Matte to Bujuku Hut (3,962m)
One of the most scenic trekking days, this stage includes a boardwalk trek through the Lower Bigo Bog and views of the glacier-fed Lake Bujuku. You will be trekking closer to Mount Stanley and Mount Speke. Expect 4–6 hours of trekking through muddy trails and boardwalks.
Overnight Stay at Bujuku Hut – Your support team ensures a warm, hearty dinner and sleeping arrangements with insulated mats and tented setups where required.
Day 6: Bujuku to Elena Hut (4,541m) – Preparation for Summit
This is a steep climb through alpine zones to Elena Hut, situated just below Mount Stanley. The path becomes more challenging, with increased altitude and rocky terrain. You’ll be briefed for the summit push on the next day. Oxygen and medical checks are available as part of your premium trekking support.
Overnight Stay at Elena Hut – Although basic, enjoy upgraded expedition tents and meal services to prepare for the early summit bid.
Day 7: Summit Margherita Peak (5,109m) – Descend to Kitandara Hut
The highlight of your trip: a pre-dawn start for the summit of Margherita Peak, the third-highest point in Africa. This technical climb involves using crampons and ropes on glacial terrain. After taking in the awe-inspiring views, descend to Elena and continue to Kitandara Hut for rest.
Overnight Stay at Kitandara Hut – Replenish your energy with a gourmet dinner prepared by your chef and enjoy a well-earned rest.
Day 8: Kitandara to Guy Yeoman Hut (3,261m)
Today involves a descent through dramatic rock walls and alpine meadows, with views of the Kitandara Lakes. The hike is physically demanding but incredibly rewarding. Arrive at Guy Yeoman Hut after 6–7 hours of trekking.

Day 9: Descend to Nyakalengija – Transfer to Kasese.
